Paper news won't disappear despite the Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

According to CNN's article on March 1, 2010, "More Americans get their news from the Internet than from newspapers or radio, and three-fourths say they hear of news via e-mail or updates on social media sites." Besides, the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press announced that the rates of getting information through the Internet news surpassed the rates of its counterpart, paper news. Many people know the Internet news has encroached domain of paper news and anticipate the end of paper news's era. Even the media experts cannot make the book on paper news's continuance. The dissemination of mobile phone(people can use the Internet through this) and development of the Internet promotes 'collapse of paper news'. Under the Internet's era, cannot paper news avoid its end? Well, I want to ask some questions to people who predict the end of the paper news like: Have you ever thought about the advantages of paper news?. Paper news still plays an important role in information delivery domain. Therefore, paper news won't disappear despite the Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

As the Internet is developed and the usage of the Internet becomes various, it eventually came to the rule of our society. It's not an exaggeration that almost people use Internet in order to get something like enjoyment through online games or convenience through Internet banking, online reservation systems. Furthermore, Internet entered the domain of information, which is taken charge of the newspaper and the rates of getting information through Internet increase steadily. In a word, the existence of paper news is in danger. In fact, the major sources of income of paper news is advertisement. Today, however, newspapers have suffered decrasing circulation figures and declining advertising benefits for some years. In particular, declining figures pose a threat on newspapers. On the advertising field, many corporations have widened their advertising expenditure against paper news and towards online. Therefore, there are concernes about online advertising replacing newspaper advertising. That means, advertisers prefer to display their products or services on Internet news because people subscribe the Internet news more than its counterpart- paper news.

Despite the trend of getting news is subscribing the Internet news, There will be no situation that paper news disappear because of the invasion of the Internet news. I can be convinced the continuance of paper news because it has inherent characteristics to fight the Internet news. From now on, I'll argue why the Internet news cannot bother paper news.

First, paper news has editorial vigor. According to Fin Galligan's essay,"The rigid structure of the newspaper allows a higher level of synthesis between news stories, the editorial commentary and other components of the print version. The space limits also indicate a necessity for the most effective and relevant reporting to meet the consumer needs at the other end. The speed, flexibility and expand ability of online news sites mean that these boundaries are not in place, and the emphasis has switched from considered, selected news, to all news, immediately and everywhere. It could be argued therefore that the newspaper version has had more editorial thought put into its content, and therefore offers better value to the reader." Fin Galligan penetrated just one of the strengths of paper news. Even space limits represent each articles is select one. One of the characteristics of the Internet, which everyone knows, is uncertainty of information. The Internet news has wrong information compared to paper news and, it is Internet news's unavoidable fate. Paper news's accurate, refined article provide subscribers excellent information.

Second, paper news higher information acquisition rate compared to the Internet news. A person named Jack Shafer said that "Even though I spent ample time clicking through the Times website and the Reader, I quickly determined that I wasn't recalling as much of the newspaper as I should be. Going electronic had punished my powers of retention. I also noticed that I was unintentionally ignoring a slew of worthy stories. Had slate's 'News Quiz" reappeared during this interval, I surely would have been a daily loser." Jack Shafer was a New York Times subscriber. He came back from the Internet news to paper news because Internet news's information acquisition rate remarkably poor rather than newspaper. Furthermore, there is a thesis that paper news higher information acquisition rather than the Internet news. Medium Matters: Newsreaders's Recall and Engagement With Online and Print Newspapers (conducted by Arthur D. Santana, Randall Livingstone, and Yoon Cho of the University of Oregon). In the thesis, the researchers deduced the results; paper news subscribers remember significantly more news stories, topics, and more main points of news stories than online news redears.
Last, paper news does not release electromagnetic waves. Internet news exists only in your computer, tablet PC, or your mobile phone. They release electromagnetic waves and long-term exposures of the waves causes health problems. Nonionizing electromagnetic wave effects in biological materials and systems(Johnson, Curtis C. University of Washington, Seattle, Wash) announced that the waves can cause dry eye and even amblyopia. Furthermore, Research done at Battelle Pacific Northwest Labs has documented that "prolonged exposure to electromagnetic radiation causes reduced melatonin secretion. Reduction of melatonin level threatens your health and can result in psychiatric disorders like depression, shortened attention span and inability to sleep. Decreased melatonin production can also increase the permeability of "blood-brain barrier", leaving you even more vulnerable to chemicals toxic effects. Blood-brain barrier is a kind of safety barrier Nature has provided you to prevent dangerous molecules from entering the brain and causing damage." We don't have to subscribe the Internet news enduring our health.

It seems to be reasonable that our society is so transilient that many old-fashioned products or systems disappear. Also, as I mentioned before, people like Internet news's speed, convenience and paper news cannot fulfill this. However, we cannot assure the collapse of paper news. Some Internet news's characteristics that can be fatal Achilles heel of paper news are actually great strength of paper news. As I mentioned before, space limits make editor post more in-depth article. Also, paper news is trying to fit themselves to chopping society- for example, many newspapers like The New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune are experimenting their departmentalization of newspaper publication time. One of the great advantages of the Internet news is the news is constantly updating. The New York Times, for example, made paper news in various time so that give updating new information. There still can be some people who have feeling of doubt the paper news because it is old-fashioned information-giving system. I agree the paper news is a little-dated system. It can be a great weapon. Newspapers look the way they do thanks of centuries of evolution to ensure that the reader gets the best experience from the content.

Everything is about value in the delivery of news content, whether that value is rapid dissemination or insightful editorial commentary. Internet news has its advantages, so do paper news. Of course we live on the Internet society and it stands to reason that Internet news is more prevail compared to the paper news. However, it is absurd that the Internet news encroaches paper news and let them disappear. Paper news has great infrastructure and still have attractive characteristics. Furthermore, every historic event shared with paper news. Paper news's article is critical, on the one hand the paper news is impressive. There are many people who claim that the paper news will die. However, there are also a lot of people who love paper news. Therefore, newspaper won't disappear despite Internet news invades the domain of paper news.

First draft essay

paper news won't disappear despite the Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

In 2008, according to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, the rates of getting information through the Internet news surpassed the rates of getting information through the paper news and this social phenomenon still continues. The dissemination of mobile phone and development of the Internet also contributes to subscribing Internet news compared to paper news. Many people think that paper news will disappear because the Internet news is evolving more rapidly and today people are accustomed to speed, usability. However, I want to ask some questions to people who predict the end of the paper news like: Have you ever thought about the advantages of paper news?. Paper news still play a important role in information delivery domain. Therefore, paper news won't disappear despite the Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

As the Internet is developed and the usage of the Internet becomes various, it eventually came to ruler of our  society. It's not a exaggeration that almost people use Internet in order to get something like enjoyment through online games or convenience through Internet banking, online reservation systems. Furthermore, Internet entered the domain of information, which is taken charge of newspaper and actually the rates of getting information through Internet increase steadily. In a word, the existence of paper news is in danger. In fact, the major sources of income of paper news is advertisement. However, according to the Huffington Post, advertisers prefer to display their products or services on Internet news rather than paper news because people subscribe the Internet news more than it's counterpart- paper news. Furthermore, according to the Huffington Post's question investigation, people are tend to prefer to the Internet news because they can check on a lot of news even when they are moving(due to the spread of mobile phone) and actually the Internet news doesn't need to pay fee.

Despite of the trend of getting news is subscribing the Internet news, There will be no situation that paper news disappear because of invasion of the Internet news. I can be convinced the continuance of paper news because it has inherent characteristics to fight the Internet news. From now on, I'll argue why the Internet news cannot bother paper news.

First, paper news has editorial vigor. The rigid structure of the newspaper allows a higher level of synthesis between news stories, the editorial commentary and other components of the print version. The space limits also indicate a necessity for the most effective and relevant reporting to meet the consumer needs at the other end. The speed, flexibility and the expandability of online news sites mean that these boundaries are not in place, and the emphasis has switched from considered, selected news, to all news, immediately and everywhere. It could be argued therefore that the newspaper version has had more editorial thought put into its content, and therefore offers better value to the reader.

Second, paper news has depth and breadth. In a 2011 paper entitled "Newspapers Offer More News Than Do Major Online Sites" published in Newspaper Research Journal, Scott Maier wrote about print versus online newspapers in the actual quality of news delivered via the two media. He analysed major online news sources against print newspapers, and concluded that the print versions(and by association those identical electronic versions of the print) actually had more news reported in them than the online sites.

Third. paper news has tenacity of information. In a study conducted in 2011 by three doctoral candidates from the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, it was observed that recall of news stories was higher in those who read from a newspaper than an online site, based mostly around the formatting and ease of access to a whole story in the print version. The whole report can be found here, and is an interesting read: Medium Matters : Newsreader's Recall and Engagement with Online and Print Newspapers. A second conclusion from this research was that since an online news story is quickly archived and stored in a fixed location, there is less subconscious impetus to store the information in memory as a simple online search query will return the article for reference very quickly.

It seems to be reasonable that our society is so transilient that many old-fashioned products or systems disappear. Also, as I mentioned before, people like Internet news's speed, convenience and paper news cannot fulfill this. However, we cannot assure the collapse of paper news. Some Internet news's characteristics which can be fatal Achilles heel of paper news are actually strength of paper news. As I mentioned before, space limits make editor post more in-depth article. Also, paper news is trying to fit themselves to chopping society- for example, many newspapers like The New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune are experimenting their departmentalization of newspaper publication time. One of the great advantages of the Internet news is the news is updating constantly. The New York Times, for example, made paper news in various time so that give updating new information. There still can be some people who have feeling of doubt the paper news because it is old-fashioned information-giving system. I agree the paper news is a little dated system. It can be a great weapon. Newspapers look the way they do thanks of centuries of evolution to ensure that the reader gets the best experience from the content. While the purpose of providing a decent experience to the end-user is predominantly the same for the online versions, where eye/mouse-tracking research has long been in effect to optimise the online experience, the need to implement prominent advertising placeholders and other cross-linking often sacrifices a clean and attractive layout.

Everything is about value in the delivery of news content, whether that value is rapid dissemination, or insightful editorial commentary. Internet news has its own advantages, so do paper news. Of course we live in the Internet society and it stands to reason that Internet news is more prevail compared to the paper news. However, it is absurd that the Internet news encroaches paper news and let them disappear. Paper news has great infrastructure and still have attractive characteristics. Furthermore, every historic events shared with paper news. Paper news's article is critical, on the one hand the paper news is impressive. There are many people who claim that the paper news will die. However, there are also a lot of people who love paper news. Therefore, newspaper won't disappear despite of Internet news invades the domain of paper news.

Week 8 objectives: Confirmation

 1. What is my thesis?

  - Paper news won't disappear despite the Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

 2. What types of source am I using to defend my thesis?

I'll mainly use advantages of paper news compared to the Internet news. Some statistics and expert's opinion  will be used.

 3. Are my arguments mostly based on evidence, logic or emotion?

My arguments are based on evidence that shows the strength of the paper news. Also, there can have some  logic or emotion in my arguments.

Confirmation

Despite of the trend of getting news is subscribing the Internet news, There will be no situation that paper news disappear because of invasion of the Internet news. I can be convinced the continuance of paper news because it has inherent characteristics to fight the Internet news. From now on, I'll argue why the Internet news cannot bother paper news.

Week 7 Objectives: Narration

2. The narrationwhich summarizes relevant background material, provides any information the audience needs to know about the environment and circumstances that produce the argument, and set up the stakes-what’s at risk in this question. In academic writing, this often takes the form of a literature review.

I will show some advantages of reading paper news by quoting Fin Galligan's opinion and I'll draw most compelling advantages of reading paper news and this will show why paper news is still loved by people. Then I'll also some examples that how paper news changes their ways to survive. These examples can be a good rebuttal of the suggestion: Internet news will totally take possession of the paper news domain.

My persuasive argument thesis is: Paper news won't disappear despite the Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

  1. What do people already know about my topic?
      - The rates of reading Internet news is increasing rapidly.
      - Reading Internet news has many advantages like convenience, speed.
      - Spread of mobile phone contributed to the reading rates of Internet news.

   2. What research has already been done about my topic?
     - The rates of getting information from the Internet news and paper news.

Narration

As the Internet is developed and the usage of the Internet becomes various, it eventually came to ruler of our  society. It's not a exaggeration that almost people use Internet in order to get something like enjoyment through online games or convenience through Internet banking, online reservation systems. Furthermore, Internet entered the domain of information, which is taken charge of newspaper and actually the rates of getting information through Internet increase steadily. Week 6 objectives: Introduction

1. The introduction, which warms up the audience, establishes goodwill and rapport with the readers, and announces the general theme or thesis of the argument.

Week 5 objectives: Classical Argument Outline

 1. The introduction, which warms up the audience, establishes goodwill and rapport with the readers, and announces the general theme or thesis of the argument.

- I will start by mentioning the subscribing rates between the Internet news and paper news(the rates of subscribing Internet news has become prevailing rather than its counterpart-paper news). Then, I will cast a question as an attention grabber like- 'Do you read Internet news more frequently than paper news?'. Then I'll end my introduction with this resolution: The newspaper won't disappear despite of Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news.

2. The narrationwhich summarizes relevant background material, provides any information the audience needs to know about the environment and circumstances that produce the argument, and set up the stakes-what’s at risk in this question. In academic writing, this often takes the form of a literature review.

 - I will show some advantages of reading paper news by quoting Fin Galligan's opinion and I'll draw most compelling advantages of reading paper news and this will show why paper news is still loved by people. Then I'll also some examples that how paper news changes their ways to survive. These examples can be a good rebuttal of the suggestion: Internet news will totally take possession of the paper news domain.

 3. The confirmationwhich lays out in a logical order (usually strongest to weakest or most obvious to most subtle) the claims that support the thesis, providing evidence for each claim.

 - I will display three claims that will support my thesis...

  1. Editorial vigor
I'll change paper news's disadvantages to strengths. I'll suggest new paradigm of seeing paper news. For example, the space limits of paper news mean that the contents of paper news indicate that the contents are   rigidly selected.

  2. Depth and breadth
I'll show the top advantages of paper news: depth and breadth. I'll quote experts opinion and some question     investigation.

  3. The changes of paper news to survive.
I'll research some changes of paper news's form and what the transitions indicate about.

 4. The refutation and concession, which looks at opposing viewpoints to the writer’s claims, anticipating objections from the audience, and allowing as much of the opposing viewpoints as possible without weakening the thesis.

I will concede that the subscribing portion of Internet news is dominant rather than subscribing paper news.    However, I'll show the inherent competitiveness of paper news and its strength.

 5. The summation, which provides a strong conclusion, amplifying the force of the argument,  and showing the readers that this solution is the best at meeting the circumstances.

I will close with a summary of my previous points, emphasize why paper news won't disappear by Internet news's intrusion, and I will have a brief consideration of the paper news's continuance.

Week 4 objectives: Articulation

 1) My argument
 - I want to argue that paper news won't disappear even though Internet news has invaded the domain of paper news. According to some researches, the rates or subscribing Internet news surpassed the paper news. However, I'd like to show that paper news still has a lot of advantages.

 2) How I found my argument
 - While reading 'The Harvard Sampler', I thought that the Internet has affected our society in many ways, domains, and it replaces many analog things like paper news. However, I wondered paper news would perish because of the Internet's invasion and my final answer was 'NO'. So I started to find some sources that support my arguments and finally found it(Fin Galligan's essay: Why the printed paper is still king of the news.)

3) New research questions

   1. What are the differences between paper news and Internet news in contents?
   2. How paper news survives if Internet news does not remove paper news?
   3. Should paper news change their some traits inevitably?

 4) Connections to the Harvard Sampler
   - Chapter 2 in 'The Harvard Sampler' talks about the Internet. In preface, a author(Harry R. Lewis) suggested the inexhaustible availability of the Internet. So I focused the intrusion of Internet in many domains especially 'news'. However, paper news won't disappear and I sets aside some evidence that support my thought.

Topic: Will Paper news be disappeared by Internet news?

 What is my current topic?

It's not a exaggeration that almost people use Internet in order to get something like enjoyment through online games or convenience through Internet banking, online reservation systems. - Compared to Internet news, what are the advantages of paper news?

 What are my current thoughts?
 - My opinion this topic is that newspaper won't disappear despite of Internet news invades the domain of paper news.

 What is the opposition?
-Opponents would say that paper news is hassle thing and it needs money, contrary to Internet news.
They would also note the habits of current humankind- simpleness, convenience, which Internet news si proper rather than paper news.
